About

A tiny tool that takes favicons seriously.

Favicon Maker is a free, in-browser favicon and logo maker. Pick an open-source icon, shape a tile around it, and download production-ready files — SVG plus PNG at 16, 32, 48, 180, 192 and 512 pixels. No account, no watermark, no upload queue.

Why it exists

Every side project eventually hits the same blank square in the browser tab. Full design suites are overkill for a 16-pixel mark, and most “free” generators watermark the export or demand an email address first. Favicon Maker is the opposite: one page, one job, done in about thirty seconds. The editor runs entirely on your device, so your half-finished logo never travels anywhere.

How it works

The editor pairs 1,800+ searchable Lucide icons (open source, ISC license) with a small set of tile controls: corner rounding, padding, drop shadows, and solid or gradient color-block backgrounds drawn from a pastel palette. Every change re-renders live, and a preview rail shows the mark at real tab, shortcut, touch-icon and install-prompt sizes before you commit. Exports are generated locally — vector SVG for infinite scaling and raster PNGs for every slot browsers and app stores ask for.

Why it's free

Favicon Maker costs almost nothing to run: there are no accounts, no databases of user designs, and no render servers — your browser does the work. The project is supported by discreet advertising rather than paywalls, which is why you will find an About page, a Contact page, and plain-language legal pages instead of a pricing grid. If the tool saved you an afternoon, the kindest payment is a link back or telling another maker about it.

Who builds it

Favicon Maker is an independent project — a small team (currently one maintainer) iterating in public. Design language follows an editorial system: monochrome type and pill buttons on white, with oversized pastel color-blocks doing the storytelling. Icons ship thanks to the Lucide community, credited in the footer of every page.
